    (Redirected from Gentilianism)

Actual Idealism, also known as Gentilianism or Classical Fascism is the state socialist philosophy of Giovanni Gentile. Gentile thought that every individual must act for the common good, and he also thought that fascism was the best way to achieve socialism. Gentile's theory was adopted by Mussolini's government, and Gentile has always been loyal to him ever since. Gentile was assassinated by Italian partisans during WW2.

    Philosophical Beliefs[edit | edit source]

Hegelian Perfection of the State[edit | edit source]

Actual Idealism believes in the Hegelian concept of the state in relation to its people. The state is always either repressed by its people, or the people by their state. To solve this problem, the state and the people's interest must become one to optimize happiness and productivity.

Historical Class Struggle and Ending it via Class Cooperation[edit | edit source]

Actual Idealism believes that history can be understood as a conflict between people who work for a living, and those who own things for a living, but contrary to Marx's Class War, Actual Idealism believes that you can coerce the Owners into using their skills for the betterment of society.

    National Essence[edit | edit source]

Actual Idealism believes that there is no such thing as a "pure race", and so to define a nation, it goes to the concept of a "national essence", basically, you can feel your Italian-ism in your soul, even if you aren't a natural-born Italian. Because of this, Actual Idealism is in favor of a small, regulated amount of immigration.

    Political Beliefs[edit | edit source]

    Autarky[edit | edit source]

Actual Idealism views Autarky as central to improving the conditions of the working class. Autarky is total political, economic, and cultural independence from any other nation-state.

    National Homogeneity[edit | edit source]

Actual Idealism believes that if everyone acts together as one big Corpus, or human body, society will naturally perfect itself, and because of this, individualism must be curbed, and so must political dissidence.

    National Structuring[edit | edit source]

Actual Idealism views society must be organized into three castes based on adherence to the Fascist ideal; Intimo or Innermost, the members of the state itself, Associato or Associated, people that aren't part of the state but still work for the ideals of Fascism, and Schiavo or Thrall, people who are looked upon with great scrutiny and have no say in government or their workplace.

    Associato[edit | edit source]

    • Marxist Theory - "In this way he came to grasp the most beautiful flower of idealism and materialism; the flower of concrete reality and of concrete conceptions always substituted for abstractions, and of Hegel and Feuerbach. Materialism yes, but historical. Except that the irony of logic responded to the excellent realist intentions with a result that was a gross contradiction, now clear to the attentive readers of these pages: a contradiction between content and form, - analogous to that which we have already noted in the critique of historical materialism as a simple philosophy of history."
