Variabilism is a metaphysical theory, where change is fundamental to reality, everything is variable and nothing is static.
Beliefs[edit | edit source]
History[edit | edit source]
First Western philosopher who proposed change being fundamental to matter is Anaximenes. He asserted that everything comes from air, that is variable substance, giving birth to water, fire and earth.
Theory of metaphysical change was further developed by Heraclitus, who believed that everything exists in constant change, coining the term panta rhei.
